A Redesign, at last

Hello and welcome to the new soyuzno.com. It’s been sit so long in my drive. I hope you like it.

I have been thinking for a while that I need a place where I can pour in my thoughts. I feel that my brain is over capacity now. Too much going on, too much things need to be done. I also need to brush up my rusty English and writing skill.

So I have this idea to re-activate my personal website, another blog of mine (it’s in Bahasa Indonesia) and and Medium. If I still have the energy, I also would like to post articles on my LinkedIn.

Anyway, allow me to explain some overview about this website.

No Portfolio

It’s the first time the site doesn’t have a portfolio section. My plan is to focus this site for my written thoughts. At least for the time being. My works will be moved to my business website, provoactive, where my team and I build websites and mobile applications.

Minimalism, again

If you know me for some time, you notice that almost all my designs are focusing on minimalism and simplicity, with bold typography. I really dig Swiss Design, combine with Japanese attention to details.

I also feel that the digital world that we live in now, are too crowded and too much noise. So I’d like to have a calm, clean and neat home where I can breath comfortably.

Still runs on WordPress

I was thinking to change the blogging software from WordPress to other than WordPress. Why? Because I play with WordPress for too long and I really keen to try a new CMS for my blog. And, maybe I can use it for my projects as well.

I was considering between Craft CMS and ExpressionEngine. But after I thought about it, I ended up using WordPress again. Both Craft CMS and ExpressionEngine seem nice and powerful. Maybe it’s too powerful for this blog.

The learning curve for both are quite steep, I would spend my time learning and then I probably postpone this blog, again.

So, Craft CMS and ExpressionEngine have to wait. I have few websites ideas that I would love to build using either Craft CMS or ExpressionEngine.

Type

I’m currently fall in love with IBM Plex. It’s a neutral, yet friendly Grotesque style typeface.

From design, content, front-end, and back-end perspectives, there’s still a lot left on my to-do list for this website, but I feel like this setup is well placed for me to make regular updates, and it’s at a launch-able point now. I hope you enjoy this new site.
